Contagious Next Top Model 2009
"The Search For The Next Face of Contagious Clubwear"
Have you ever dreamed of seeing yourself on the pages of a fashion magazine wearing the latest hot styles from clubland, or wondered what it would be like to strut your stuff on the catwalk in front of an audience of adoring fans?
Contagious have teamed up with Core Magazine to bring you an exclusive competition where you could become the next face of the Contagious Clubwear brand. Contagious Next Top Model 2009 is looking for wannabe clubwear models to compete in a series of heats in Core Magazine over the coming months. The successful winning person will win a 12 month modelling contract with Contagious starting with an exclusive cover shoot with Core Magazine. You don’t have to have previous model experience; we are simply looking for someone from clubland who can represent the Contagious brand over the next twelve months.
Contagious originally ran this competition in 2007 in clubs up and down the country, and recieved hundreds of entries. Two girls were picked from each heat to compete in the finals. The final came down to two girls, Charlotte Saunt and Kim Harrison, and as we could not choose between them, they were jointly awarded the title of “Face of Contagious 2008”. The girls went on to spearhead Contagious Clubwears marketing campaigns for 2008 and 2009 and have appeared on the web modelling the Contagious range, as well as appearing in magazine ads and on flyers.

We recently caught up with previous winners Charlotte and Kim to find out what winning the competition meant to them:
Contagious: Why did you enter the Face of Contagious Competition?
Charlotte: I knew Contagious were scouting the country looking for a model to represent their brand. So when they came to my nearest club at The Emporium (aka Storm) I made sure I was there. I needed some encouragement introducing myself and getting in front of the camera, don’t get me wrong. But Contagious are so friendly so I soon felt at home.
Kim: A friend thought I should enter because I’ve always loved clubwear and always go clubbing. I didn’t think I’d have a chance but it just goes to show!
Contagious: Have you ever done any kind of modelling before this competition?
Charlotte: No. I didn’t really know where to start. I thought this was a great opportunity so went for it. I knew they would look after me along the way.
Kim: Not really, no. I did a couple of photoshoots before this but nothing professional until now.
Contagious: Have you ever had aspirations on being a model?
Charlotte: Before I won the competition I’d thought about modelling but had no idea how to get into it. I didn’t fancy paying colossal amounts of money for a poor photo shoot, but Contagious gave me a kick start and a major modelling boost.
Kim: Yeah, definitely! What girl doesn’t want to be a model?! I always thought I was too small though at 5ft. I think I’ve proved that you don’t need to be tall and leggy with big boobs to win!
Contagious: How did you feel when you found out you had one won?
Charlotte: The anticipation was immense waiting for the final. When Contagious came to their decision that they’d chosen both myself and Kim to be the winners I was pleased.
Kim: I felt shocked, amazed and happy! I was also buzzing that I was going to get loads of amazing Contagious outfits!
Contagious: What has winning the competition meant to you?
Charlotte: Winning has made me believe that if you want to do something, you can do it, don’t hold back. If I didn’t enter the competition, I’d have definitely regretted it!
Kim: It has definitely boosted my confidence and made me realise that I can do a lot more than I initially thought I could. I also get to wear lots of fantastic clothes when I go out and I’ve met the Contagious crew, and what a fantastic group of people they are!
Contagious: What modelling have you done for Contagious since you won?
Charlotte: My first shoot was in ‘Combat Camo’ and the ‘Warrior’ range. It was exciting seeing and modelling the new outfits before anyone else! I’ve also modelled their ‘Cage’, ‘Twist’ and ‘Fantasy’ range. Seeing the photos on the site was quite surreal at first, but I was happy with how they turned out. I have also benn given opportunities with their promotional work (riding on the Contagious open top bus for one!)
Kim: I have done a couple of shoots for their different ranges, such as the ‘Fantasy’ range and the ‘Summer’ range, and hopefully I have more to come.
Contagious: What effect has being the “Face of Contagious” had on your life?
Charlotte: Winning the competition has given me a massive confidence boost. Mentally pushing me into doing things I probably wouldn’t be doing now without having won it. Contagious Clubwear makes you look great on the outside and feel great on the inside!
Kim: It has made me a lot happier in myself. I’d never really won anything before so it’s made me realise that I can go for anything I want to… If you want something girls, go for it!
Contagious: Do you find that people recognise you now?
Charlotte: Definitely. When I’m out clubbing I get recognised all the time. If you’re a regular clubber you’ll quickly find you soon know everyone on the scene and they are all so friendly to you.
Kim: When I go out people are like ”aren’t you the girl on the slip I get my Contagious outfit with?!” and I am!
Contagious: What advice can you give to any wannabe models entering “Face of Contagious 2009”?
Charlotte: My advice is to go for it! You have nothing to lose. Contagious are a great team to work for. Although, a word of warning...Be prepared for lots of attention, lots of fun, photoshoots galore and seeing yourself on club flyers and in magazines. Best of luck ladies!
Kim: Be yourself, show your personality and be someone other girls will aspire to be. Most of all, have fun and look hot!
